The Joy of the Lord is my strength
Proverbs 15:15b
....but he that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast.
Psalm 5:11
But let all those that put their trust in Thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because Thou defendest them: let them also that love Thy name be joyful in Thee.
Isaiah 61:10
I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for He hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, He hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.
Proverbs 17:22a
A merry heart doeth good like a medicine...

Mommy Mirth
I LOVE when the kids paint..........
On the computer that is.:P
Kennedy's
Warren's
The last time the kids got out the paints......I think I was sleep deprived and lying on the couch as if drugged.....(could have been a very bad candida day, too) but the kids went crazy.....I even had them wearing "paint shirts" and they still managed to get it on their newer play clothes......and on my new chairs.....( which I still haven't been able to get around to cleanin'!! WAAAAAHAAAA!!!! sniffle, sniffle) Now, I do love to let my kids explore and experiment with color, but not all the time, and not soooooo messy (especially when I'm breaking out and I already feel aggravated). So all that to say painting on the computer is AWESOME. They can perform spotless artistry.

Writing
Here is a writing assignment Harrison had to work on for Language. The task was to make an article of what your city has to offer for tourists. He centered it around family oriented activities ( although there are many other possiblities). Just a side note, he didn't want me to put it up.....so we won't tell him.:P:P:P:P (shhhhh)

Creation vs. Evolution -MEDIATED DESIGN
Okay, this is sooooo awesome. PLEASE take the time to read this and you'll be able to help defend creationism.
http://www.answersingenesis.org/articles/am/v4/n1/hidden-potential
( I LOVE the part of this article called "Using Mediated Design" and the potential there. OH MY!!!)
Meaning of Mediated design:
the belief that God specifically designed each created kind with genes that could be turned on by environmental factors to help them adapt to new surroundings.
They give a few different examples, but this is one example I gave to my kiddies.
Take two ppl.
One is a typist and the other is an olympic runner. God has equipped them with the same muscles in each person's body.
The runner has trained hard and built up his muscles to be strong, to make him fast, while the typist's muscles aren't as developed b/c of the different "environment" or jobs they each have.
If you read the article to which the link refers to, this will hopefully make more sense.
May God bless you with this article and may it develope more curiousity in you to study creationism more.
"It is an exciting time to be a creation scientist. As secular scientists discover more data about our world and intensify their challenges against the Creator, we are forced to study the Word of God in greater depth and examine our world more closely. The “trials” allow us to discover more truths about God, magnifying His glory and wisdom. " -Answers in Genesis article

Poetry
We've been going through this cd/book called "A Child's Introduction To Poetry". You can purchase it on Amazon.com (maybe even on Amazon.ca).
This is such a fun book. It explains how different types of poems are arranged, the meaning behind some poems, and the meaning of some unfamiliar words used in the poems. Here are a few limericks we liked. ( A limerick is a short, humerous, five-line poem).
"There was a young lady named Hannah,
Who slipped on a peel of banana.
More stars she espied
As she lay on her side
Than are found in the Star Spangled Banner.
A gentleman sprang to assist her;
He picked up her glove and her wrister;
"Did you fall, Ma'am?" he cried;
"Do you think," she replied,
"I sat down for the fun of it, Mister?"
-------------------------------
A flea and a fly in a flue
were stuck so what could they do?
Said the flea, “let us fly."
Said the fly, “let us flee”.
So they flew through a flaw in the flue.
---------------------------------------
There once was a man from Nantucket
Who kept all his cash in a bucket.
But his daughter, named Nan, Ran away with a man
And as for the bucket, Nantucket.
But he followed the pair to Pawtucket,
The man and the girl with the bucket;
And he said to the man, He was welcome to Nan,
But as for the bucket, Pawtucket.
I'm also found of the nonsense verse poem, "Jabberwocky" taken from Lewis Carroll's book, Through the Looking-Glass.
My Grandma Shirley (who sometimes we would call Grahams) and I made up a tongue-twister one time while staying the night at her house. I remember going to her house making tongue-twisters, playing "where am I hiding", playing cards (and ABSOLUTELY NO NO NO Cheating!) and a host of other things. She didn't have much money but we didn't need to have money to have fun.
Here is the tongue-twister we made:
Which witch wore which watch in which war?
Simple but fun.
I've always enjoyed making silly and YES, rhyming poems.....but as you look more closely at poetry the real poets take it further and add double-meanings and include other references. I'll have to try that someday.
Anyways.......back to school.
Homeward Bound, The Incredible Journey, Part 2/8
LOLOLOLOL Remember this Nate and Ann. "Eh-ewwwe.........that;s Grandma's cake!" I couldn't find just this clip so ya get a little more of the movie........heh heh
Bible Memory
Although my children are learning the Westminster Shorter Chatechism Questions with the Scripture proofs I so long for them to memorize other verses as well. Verses that they may specifically need for their certain weaknesses to help encourage them and help them in the midst of temptation, ect.
I just found this site today and had to post the link. Now I know one can certainly memorize scripture without it, but as I have limited time and I have a whole host of things I want my children to learn and do I thought this would be a time-saver for me. (We do memorize the Catechism and Scriputre proofs together so that's why I would opt for something like this).
