Better late than never, I always say

It's still October, which means I'm still in the grace period ( I hope:P ).
But I wanted to post something for your birthday, Mom.
I wrote this about a week ago one morning before the kids got up.....

Ode to My Mother
Oh Mother of mine,
Created by perfect design.
How grateful I am,
For God's wonderous plan,
Of giving you to me.
Oh Mother of mine,
How your spiritual graces shine.
So many you've warmly wrapped,
With God's love-blanket so apt.
Will I ever match up to thee?
Oh Mother of mine,
So tender and so kind.
Even when we need(ed) your correction,
It was coupled with God's love and affection.
May I live up to your example of truth and honesty.
So Mother of mine,
When you're down and not feeling fine,
Know there is a family who cherishes you.
Eternally demonstrated, our Father does, too.
You are the Matriarch epitome
Now, hour after hour I could go on,
Explaining our love by dance and by song.
Day by day my family to encourage
By your example of faith, resolve, honor, and courage.
Needless to say her objections I'll hear
With that familiar and endearing voice, "Now, stop that, Dear."
But hear ye this
Every thought of her, Bliss.
And know ye well
Her life greater than tale.
As I come to a close
so that everyone knows.....
My last thought before this ode ends,
She is my mother, my mentor, and the bestest of friends.
All my love, Mamacita!! ("Rosita Chaquita")

Oh What Comfort Divine

Faith's Check Book, Daily Entry

Regulated Chastisement
I will correct thee in measure. (Jeremiah 30:11)
To be left uncorrected would be a fatal sign: it would prove that the Lord had said, "He is given unto idols, let him alone." God grant that such may never be our portion! Uninterrupted prosperity is a thing to cause fear and trembling. As many as God tenderly loves He rebukes and chastens: those for whom He has no esteem He allows to fatten themselves without fear, like bullocks for the slaughter. It is in love that our heavenly Father uses the rod upon His children.
Yet see, the correction is in measure": He gives us love without measure but chastisement "in measure." As under the old law no Israelite could receive more than the "forty stripes save one," which ensured careful counting and limited suffering; so is it with each afflicted member of the household of faith-every stroke is counted. It is the measure of wisdom, the measure of sympathy, the measure of love, by which our chastisement is regulated. Far be it from us to rebel against appointments so divine. Lord, if Thou standest by to measure the bitter drops into my cup, it is for me cheerfully to take that cup from Thy hand and drink according to Thy directions, saying, "Thy will be done."

Water color wonder

Julia and Beth went to two water color classes two Fridays consecutively. They learned how to stroke the brush back and forth and how to make a pallet so the colors work with each other in the same picture. These were painted in the first class, of which I'm going to frame and hang in my livingroom!!! Well done, Girlies!!! ( Harrison and Pierce will go in a few weeks, so more water color to come!!) The first pic. is Beth's and the second is Julia!!! Won't they look nice hanging in my LR?!?!?!:D
