Making the Sabbath a Delight

As Sabbatarians we do LOVE the Lord's Day and try to keep it holy. God made it just for His people to rest from worldly doings, no matter how good and necessary. I believe adults have it easier since we can read, study, pray, commune with the saints, sing etc. Children on the other hand may see this as a day that takes away their "fun". Because our society has drifted so far from Biblical standards we have to wrack our brains trying to think of things for our children to do to keep it holy. We are out of practice, God help us, in doing so. May we reclaim the ground of our faithful forefathers and seek ways to help us and our children to see how delightful the Lord's Day can be. It's such a wonderful time spending with the family in reading God's word, expounding it, applying it, meditating on it. Also the reading of wonderful books which are inspiring, encouraging, convicting, illuminating, and downright necessary. It is a glorious picture of that everlasting feast of His Saints and their Bridegroom joyously communing.

So here is one way we try to keep the Sabbath.
Pictures with Bible verses at it's side. Or should I say Bible verses with pictures at it's side. ( I know for a fact that Julia would be devastated if she had to go a day without coloring). So we keep coloring to things of the Bible or things of a lawful nature on the Lord's Day. Which is so exciting to see what they come up with.

(Isaiah 62:5) For as a young man marrieth a virgin, so shall thy sons marry thee: and as the bridegroom rejoiceth over the bride, so shall thy God rejoice over thee.

Amen! We've been trying to come up with ways to do just the same and make it the BEST day of their week. They are particularly fond of 'the obedience game'. I'll have to tell you about it on the phone. I've gotta dash!

So cute about Kennedy too! haha
